Plage de Belmont, 44420 La Turballe
The Plage de Belmont is the northernmost stretch of coastline in La Turballe, located right on the border with Piriac-sur-Mer. Sharing its bay with the neighboring municipality, this spot truly brings together the best of both worlds: the wide sandy expanses of La Turballe and the wild, rugged rocky character of Piriac.
A Paradise for Families and Explorers
The beach is nestled within a wide, protected bay (Anse de Belmont), framed by picturesque rock formations. Thanks to its fine sand and shallow, gently sloping water, the Plage de Belmont is a perfect family beach where children can swim safely in the calm sea. As it is a completely natural coastal area, there is no lifeguard station here—putting the vast natural scenery firmly in the spotlight.
When the tide recedes, the beach reveals its second face: numerous small, hidden micro-coves appear between the exposed rocks. For adventurers, this is the perfect opportunity to explore the shoreline, relax in the mini-coves, or look out for tiny hermit crabs.
Accessible Natural Enjoyment
Compared to some of the region’s steeper cliffside coves, the Plage de Belmont stands out for its easy accessibility. The approach is flatter, making the beach accessible to individuals with reduced mobility when accompanied. Free parking is available in the immediate vicinity along the coastal road (Boulevard Belmont), not far from the small pond known as Étang de Brandu.
If you want to combine your beach trip with a coastal tour, you have the perfect starting point here: the famous Customs Path (GR34) passes right by the bay. From here, you can enjoy a wonderful hike toward the cliffs of Piriac or simply take in the spectacular views of the Atlantic.
