Plage du Port Creux, 44420 La Turballe
The Plage de Port Creux is the ideal spot for anyone seeking a peaceful corner along the lively coast of Loire-Atlantique. Located north of the bustling fishing port of La Turballe, just before the border to Piriac-sur-Mer, this coastal stretch offers a wonderful alternative to the region’s large, crowded main beaches.
Fine Sand and Gentle Coastal Charm
Spanning around 500 meters, the Plage de Port Creux features a wide, fine sandy shore, punctuated only by a few picturesque rock formations. While the beaches to the south of La Turballe are often kilometers long and flat, the wilder, rockier character of the coast begins right here in the north.
Since the beach is completely natural and has no lifeguards on duty, things are significantly more relaxed and quieter here, even during peak season. It is the perfect little spot to lie in the sand with a good book, listen to the waves, or simply take in the vast view over the Atlantic.
Easy Comfort Along the Customs Path
Although the cove radiates plenty of untouched charm, it is very easy to access. The descent is much flatter and more comfortable than at the hidden neighboring coves further north. Free parking options are located directly along the coastal road (Boulevard de Belmont).
If you want to combine your beach day with a short activity, you can hop right onto the coastal hiking trail from the beach. The path leads you close to the rocky shoreline and offers fantastic photo opportunities—especially in the evening hours when the sun sinks picturesquely into the sea.
