For the guests of our holiday home, a true maritime landmark awaits in the harbor of Piriac-sur-Mer: Le Grand Norven. This impressive, historic sailing boat is an authentic replica of a traditional sardine fishing boat (sloop) from the first half of the 20th century. A trip on this tradition-steeped vessel is a wonderful opportunity to experience the region’s maritime heritage up close and actively.
What to Expect on a Trip with Le Grand Norven:
- Authentic hands-on sailing: A journey on Le Grand Norven is not just a passive boat ride. Under the guidance of the experienced crew, you can – if you wish – lend a hand, hoist the red sails, and experience traditional seamanship from times gone by firsthand.
- Fascinating coastal cruises: The routes take you out into the beautiful bay of Piriac. From the water, you will enjoy a unique view of the rugged Breton coast, hidden coves, and the open sea.
- An experience full of history and community: As you glide smoothly through the waves, the passionate crew shares fascinating stories about the former sardine fishing industry and the life of the fishermen in Piriac. An authentic excursion that connects generations.
Important Tip for Your Holiday Planning & Booking:
Le Grand Norven sets sail from April to October. Since the places on board are strictly limited and the trips are highly sought after by holidaymakers, early registration and booking are strongly recommended.
Several options are available for your booking: You can easily reserve your places in advance by email or phone. Alternatively, you can book directly on-site at the small association boutique. It is located right by the harbor basin. If you stroll along the harbor promenade (Quai de Verdun), it is easy to find. As the boutique is run by volunteers, during the high season it usually opens on market days in the late morning (approx. 11:00 am to 12:30 pm) and in the late afternoon (approx. 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm).
