Ort-Kategorie: Shopping
The E.Leclerc hypermarket in Guérande is one of the largest shopping centers in the immediate area and serves an important supply function for locals and tourists alike.
Location and Accessibility from Our Holiday Home
The connection to the hypermarket is particularly convenient from our holiday home on Route de Kerhuet in Guérande. The drive by car to the shopping center in the commercial area (ZAC de Villejames) is short and straightforward. A large, free car park is available for visitors on site. In addition to car parking spaces, there are also areas for motorhomes and an attached petrol station, which is often used for its competitive fuel prices compared to the rest of the region.
The Product Range: From Everyday Products to Regional Specialties
As a classic French hypermarket, the shop combines a wide range of product categories under one roof.
-
- Food and Fresh Food Counters: The main focus of the market is on fresh food. There are large fruit and vegetable departments, a dedicated bakery counter with French baked goods, as well as a fish and meat counter. For travelers, the market offers a selection of packaged and fresh seafood from the region.
- Regional Products: Local products are an integral part of the range. These include sea salt harvested from the surrounding marshes (Fleur de Sel and Sel Gris de Guérande), Breton biscuits (Galettes and Palets), cider, and regional cheese and butter creations.
- Non-Food Section: In addition to food, the shop features a department for clothing, household goods, electronics, car accessories, and drugstore items. A section for camping supplies and beach toys is also available depending on the season.
Infrastructure of the Shopping Arcade
The hypermarket is embedded in a covered shopping arcade (Galerie Marchande). Here, customers will find additional shopping options and services, including:
-
- A brilliant fish counter with a wide selection. It isn’t located in the shop itself or in the gallery, but at the far left of the main building
- A parapharmacie (for drugstore items, cosmetics, and over-the-counter health products – however, there is no classic pharmacy for prescription medicines here)
- Several clothing shops
- A large sports shop located directly inside the arcade
- A newsagent and bookstore
- Service providers such as a locksmith or cobbler, as well as catering options
Opening Hours
The hypermarket welcomes customers six days a week during the following times:
-
- Monday to Thursday: 09:00 to 19:30
- Friday and Saturday: 09:00 to 20:00
- Sunday: Closed
Hours may vary on public holidays. The shops in the surrounding shopping arcade usually open from 09:30.
Practical Tips for Your Visit
The shop is designed for large shopping trolleys and is fully accessible. During peak summer travel periods, especially on Saturdays and rainy days, a very high volume of visitors is to be expected. A very good time to shop is lunchtime from 13:00 onwards, as many people are at lunch then, making the aisles and checkouts significantly emptier. Alternatively, early morning hours or later evening hours during the week are recommended.
